Psychodrama in Schools and Education
As Istanbul Psychodrama Institute we conduct long-term and short-term training programs for elementary and high schools. These training programs are organized and carried out following these main headlines:
· Trainings for teacher, administrator and psychological counselors (based on students or otherwise)
· Improvement of the education system
· Groups for problem resolution
· Acquaintance, merging and cohesion trainings (teachers and administrators)
· Groups for class climate, class discipline and communication with the students
· Detecting the problems and developing resolution projects
The sub-topics of the trainings included in the education system can be summarized as the following:
· Groups held for educators and administrators both within themselves and with each other. These group works aim to get participants acquainted, merged and to help the participants carry out their duties with a team spirit.
· Organization of student- teacher relationship and if any problem resolution. The aim of this group work is to enhance the communication between students and teachers.
· Sociodrama studies aiming to explore the contemporary identity of teachers and variables of the education system.
· Group applications concerning the individuals to acknowledge, accept and conserve the borders fit with their roles.
· Group works concerning the teacher, administrator and parent relationships.
· Group works aiming to enhance the teachers’ professional skills (in specific fields)
· Group works aiming to determine the problems.
· Groups for parents concerning relationships with the children and intrafamilial communication during examination periods.
· In addition we conduct group seminars in which
o theory, method, application of psychodrama
o psychodrama in education sub topics are introduced.
· All these works are applied groups which mainly include psychodramatic techniques.
· Attendants are not only passive listeners but go through experiences which they can internalize and put into practice in their own lives.
· They get a chance to express themselves accurately in all the works.
· The programs are developed according to the schools’ own requirements and number of participants.
The sub-topic of the said trainings are as follows:
1. Supervisions for Schools’ Counseling Unit (developing, renovation)
· Children Psychodrama Training (for Psychological Counselors) Case Evaluation and Supervisions
· Student Scanning Organization
2. Annual Continuous Teacher Training:
· Teacher Consultation Groups (organized as a 2 hour work, every month)
· A group should consist of 15-20 attendants.
· Effective Teaching Training Package Program (12 hours)
· A group should consist of 15-20 attendants.
· Communication Skills Package Program (12 hours)
· A group should consist of 15-20 attendants.
· Classroom Problems Resolution Coordination Studies (determined according to requirement)
3. Programs for Parents
· Parent Informing Groups (Conference)
· Parenting School Package Programs
Parent, Children groups and seminars (charges depends on the size of the group and the duration of the work)
4. Consulting Services for all kinds of problems might occur during the education term.
· Individual Psychological Counseling
· System enhancing works throughout the school concerning all school problems.
The programs apart from General Counseling Services, are determined between our institute and the school, conducted for a constant monthly charge. For the progression of these programs, the school makes a monthly 500 $ payment to the institute. The school and the institute meet on a periodical basis to plan further studies and create resolutions for the emerging problems.
When a case is beyond the School Counseling and individual consulting is needed, the services provided by the instate are charged to parents of the students.
All these works are applied groups, which mainly include psychodramatic techniques.
